The judging criteria for the Best Plot Competition

This is the scoring sheet that the judges will use when assesing the nominated plots.  Thanks to Judith Ward for supplying it.  Please note that if some of the criteria do not apply to your plot (i.e. you don't have any livestock) you will not be marked down.

Scarcroft and District Allotment Association said...

Hi Caroline,

Last year I was a bit concerned about the weighting awarded to 'utilisation of recycled materials'. In my view nothing that ordinary people would not tolerate in their backyard should gain plus points.
I feel that having junk, old doors, pallets, baths etc just gives an 'anything goes' impression, and might even encourage vandalism.
People can do what they like within reason, but should not not be rewarded for it.
Recycled stuff is ok, but should have class, and be a pleasure to look at. In my view, and my dad was a judge in allotment awards in Holland for yoers, so I can't help it. And Dutch allotments are the envy of all!
